Why
is Farmers offering Identity Shield?
To
help our customers be proactive in
protecting their identities. Identity
theft is the
fastest growing crime in the U.S.
and has been listed as the number 1 consumer complaint for 7
consecutive
years by
the Federal Trade Commission.
What
is identity theft?
Any
unauthorized use of your identity, personal information, or financial
information qualifies as identity theft. You are at risk of becoming a
victim
of identity theft if your wallet has been lost or stolen, or if your
home or
car has been burglarized. If you notice unusual
charges
on your statements or receive unexpected bills, you may be a victim of
identity
theft.
Will
my premium increase in the event of an identity-theft-related claim?
No. Your premium
will not be
increased as a
result of an identity theft claim. The
policy is not affected in any way. As a result, your
"number of
years claims free" with Farmers also will not be affected. Since
policies are not affected by udentity-theft-related claims, we strongly
recommend that customers report all claims or
suspected claims related to identity theft, no matter how small they
may be.
What
are the Continuous Credit and Public Records Monitoring Services?
Continuous
credit
and public records monitoring is available for two named insureds. These services include
the following:

provide an annual identity report
with
details of your credit file and public records (refer to the
